Pan-Seared Tuna with Avocado, Soy, Ginger & Lime

Serves: 2

2 – 6 oz tuna steaks
2 handfuls cilantro leaves, finely chopped
½ jalapeno pepper, sliced
1 tsp fresh ginger
1 clove garlic, grated
2 freshly squeezed limes
2 tbsp soy sauce
Pinch sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
1 avocado, ripe, halved, peeled, pitted and sliced.

In bowl, combine cilantro, jalapeno, ginger, garlic, lime juice, soy sauce, sugar, salt, pepper, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix well. Place skillet over medium-high heat and coat with remaining 2 tbsp of olive oil. Season tuna generously with salt and pepper. Place tuna in hot oil and sear for 1 minute each side to form a crust. Pour ½ of the cilantro mixture into the pan to coat the tuna. Serve seared tuna with sliced avocado and the remaining cilantro sauce drizzled of the whole plate.
